Career Summary

Scott Jackson is a geologist with a background in the mining industry since 1986 and has quickly developed his skills and reputation in the field of geostatistics since 1997. He started his mining career as an underground sampler on the famous Golden Mile in Kalgoorlie, before studying geology at the University of Western Australia. Scott commenced his geological career with Renison Goldfields Consolidated (RGC) in 1990 and subsequently worked in the Mining and Exploration and Groups of RGC over a 4 year period.

Scott subsequently held mine geology positions with Placer at Granny Smith (where he supervised the development phases of the Sunrise Project and was involved in resource evaluation and mine geology at Granny Smith) and Boddington Gold Mine. Scott's experience at Boddington brought him increasingly into contact with resource estimation issues and geostatistical tools.

Scott was offered a French government scholarship and invited to the Centre de Geostatistique at Fontainebleau in 1998. He completed the CFSG post-graduate qualification in geostatistics, returning to Australia in 1999.

In 1999 he joined the SRK Consulting (Australasia) Pty Ltd. Geostatistics Group (which was formerly Geoval, a specialist group of geostatistical consultants). At SRK, Scott held the position of Senior Consultant, and was involved in a range of geostatistical studies, with specific experience in gold.

Since the formation of QG in 2001 Scott has continued his consulting work on a range of commodities, including gold, base metals, diamonds and tantalum. He has been involved in presentation of introductory and advanced training, as well as the running of several management level strategic seminars.

Scott has developed a reputation for communicating geostatistics and resource risk issues in an understandable and succinct manner to non-specialists. He has experience of performing bankable due diligence and various levels of internal audit for companies, including company wide reviews of practices and establishment of guidelines and procedures for resource estimation in a corporate setting.
